Katie graduated from The Arts Institute at Bournemouth with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design, before going on to build a successful and fulfilling 25-year career as a brand designer.

In 2024, she made a significant career change, embarking on the Royal School of Needlework’s intensive, full-time, three-year Professional Embroidery Tutor Programme. This programme encompasses traditional hand embroidery techniques, teaching methodologies, and the social and historical contexts of embroidery.

Katie is recognised for her creativity and meticulous attention to detail. Her work is driven by colour and emotion, drawing on her background in art and design to bring her embroideries vividly to life. She has a particular interest in exploring the roles of women and their often unrecognised skills—an interest reflected in pieces such as Cowgirl appliqué.
