I'm Katie Bell, welcome to my website
I am thrilled to be selected on the Royal School of Needlework Professional Embroidery Tutor course at Hampton Court Palace, starting this September 2024.
I will be learning the intricate, historical embroidery techniques and invaluable teaching skills. I feel extremely lucky to have this opportunity to study there, encouraging others and creating my own designs. A whole new world will open up.
My Mother taught me how to to sew as a child, then quilting and embroidery – it’s always been my hobby.
I’m a graphic designer and had a successful career in London specialising in branding. After our daughter was born, I built my own business creating pet portraits which grew into a successful little business. I also produced greetings cards and prints which were stocked in selected stores around the UK.
During Covid I realised I needed a career change – something fulfilling where I could share my enthusiasm and knowledge supporting others in their own creative goals and doing something I really loved. I ran informal sewing workshops for friends then gained experience in school settings in supporting roles. When I discovered the Royal School of Needlework – Professional Embroidery Tutor course it was a light bulb moment, so I applied!
As a family we spend time in Park City, Utah. The wildlife and rural mountain landscape, barns and small towns are endlessly fascinating. Moose, mule deer and numerous species of bird and mammals, including the Northern Flicker, osprey, marmots and beaver are regularly in the neighbourhood. If you're wondering why some of my social media posts are from there – that's why!
I look forward to sharing my embroidery learning and journey with you, please read my blog.
